Our team has more than 20 years of combined experience in Special Education. We have a Nationally Board Certified Special Education Teacher, and a Speech/Language Pathologist on staff.
We are active members of the NC Local Interagency Coordinating Council (LICC) for Bladen County. This agency serves young children with disabilities and developmental delays, and their families.
Founder/Speech Language Pathologist
Jane obtained a B.A. in Communication Studies at the University of NC Wilmington and later went on to obtain her M.S. in Speech Language Pathology at NOVA Southeastern University out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Jane was a Music Instructor at Elizabethtown Christian Academy for 5 years while attending graduate school at NOVA. Since graduating she has been working with children in the educational school system providing therapy, performing assessments, managing Individual Education Plans, and working as a team member of the Bladen County North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten Program. Jane recently became a board member for Smart Start of Bladen County. She has also been working with adults and children in the private care sector and working with AAC devices (Augmentative and Alternative Devices) for both children and adults. In her spare time she is also a professional vocalist and pianist and enjoys performing in the Bladen County area and in Wilmington whenever she can find the time.
Founder/Special Educator
Brooke McMichael studied Biological Sciences at North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and obtained a B.S. degree in Biology. She later went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Specific Learning Disabilities. Brooke has over 13 years of experience in the school system and has worked with students and teachers at all grade levels. She is Nationally Board Certified as an Exceptional Needs Specialist. She enjoys working with parents, teachers, and students in navigating the Special Education process. She has a passion for helping students with reading disabilities.
